As an online worker, power outage is my biggest enemy next to internet outage. You have this perfectly written article, or beautifully crafted design in Photoshop then suddenly, kaboom! Power out! And the best part is, you haven't even saved anything.

Good thing most of the software that I use like MSword 2012 and Adobe Photoshop CS6 has autosave capabilities. But the sad thing is, its not just saving the files that you are working on that matters most, it is the  your computer unit's life.

It is highly not recommended for a PC to abruptly be disconnected from a power source when it is still working and not properly shut down. This will cause tremendous problems as your PC unit ages.

Luckily, I have my own UPS or Uninterrupted Power Supply with 600VA to give me backup power supply for around 30 minutes so I can save everything before safely turning off my PC unit. UPS also shields your PC from any sudden surge of current after power outage. Sudden gush of current after power outage usually is the main cause of appliance failures.

How about you? How do you protect your home-based office?
